TBR Book Tag!

june-haul-mysteryI don’t often get tagged in the blog-o-sphere to participate in blog tag memes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to them!  (HINT HINT TAG ME PEOPLE)  When I saw Sophie, from book wishpost the TBR tag a few weeks (maybe a few months now IDK 😐 ) ago, I desperately wanted to participate.

I am an ardent abuser of the Goodreads “want to read” button, I admit this.  So, here I am, tagging myself to write about my absurd TBR list.  Enjoy!

HOW DO YOU KEEP TRACK OF YOUR TBR PILE?

tbr-jar-and-flowersI try to keep all of my TBR books on Goodreads, but I am only sporadically active over there.  I also have a TBR jar that I fill with all of my owned-unread books, but I haven’t really used that lately.  So, to answer this question, I am going to have to say the giant pile of books by my side of the bed is how I keep track of what I need to read.

IS YOUR TBR MOSTLY PRINT OR E-BOOKS?

All print, with the exception of one single e-book I need to read for a review.  Publishers have not yet noticed me, and I have no idea how to go about getting ARCs, so the books that I need to read are the ones that either I have bought for myself, or my family has bought for me.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHICH BOOK TO READ NEXT?

Rarely I will pull a book out of my TBR jar, but mostly I read depending on mood.  Oh, and #bookstagram peer pressure.  That’s a biggie.img_4694

A BOOK THAT HAS BEEN ON YOUR TBR LIST THE LONGEST?

According to Goodreads, The Pillars of the Earth was added to my ‘to-read’ shelf back on 8/26/2012, but I don’t even own that book.  So, the book that has physically been on my TBR list the longest is probably Life of Pi

A BOOK MOST RECENTLY ADDED TO YOUR TBR?

Furthermore.  I go crazy adding books to my ‘to-read’ shelf on Goodreads, so I can’t count all that nonsense.

A BOOK ADDED TO YOUR TBR SOLELY BASED ON COVER?

bookish-circleHa!  All of them?  No, but really: The Start of Me and You (I don’t even like contemporaries that much), The Muse, The Eagle Tree, and A Natural History of Dragons

A BOOK YOU NEVER PLAN ON READING?

Everland.  I received this book in the May OwlCrate box, and was just so disappointed by it.  I am not a fan of steam punk, and Peter Pan was never my favorite childhood story, so this book is a no go from me.  But, it still sits on my shelf, forever unread.

AN UNPUBLISHED BOOK YOU ARE EXCITED FOR?

Every Hidden Thing by Kenneth Oppel and Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill.  A standalone and the first in a new series, respectively.  I just have a huge soft spot for anything involving dinosaurs and that was why Every Hidden Thing jumped out at me, let’s hope it’s a great read!

A BOOK EVERYONE HAS READ BUT IS STILL ON YOUR TBR?

The Percy Jackson books, hands down.  I own the set of them, but for some reason have still not picked them up.  One day, Percy, one day.nevernight

A BOOK ON YOUR TBR THAT YOU ARE DYING TO READ?

I am going to answer this one by reading the question like: a book I physically own that I am dying to read, rather than just my whole TBR in general.  And that book is probably Nevernight by Jay Kristoff!  I pre-ordered this book so I could get the signed first edition, and it is gorgeous.  But, it is so big I haven’t had the nerve to pick it up yet!  I have vowed that I will read it by the end of the year though…

THE NUMBER OF BOOKS ON YOUR GOODREADS ‘TO-READ’ SHELF?

Just a measly 352, no big deal people.  I have my whole life to get through these.  Right?

So, that was fun and also eye-opening!  If you want to add me as a friend on Goodreads, you can do so HERE, which would be awesome because I need to stalk more to-read shelves.

Anyways, what are you all reading now?  How many books do you have on your TBR list?  Let me know so we can be embarrassed together!

  1. This is crazy but I have 352 on my goodreads to-read at the moment too!
I just finished Amy & Roger’s Epic detour last night and I still don’t know what I will pick up later tonight!
Btw I added you on Goodreads!

  2. This probably sounds blogger-nerdy, but I love the way you structured this post (the photos’ position and what not – YAS LOVE IT). Anyway, THAT IS A MASSIVE NUMBER OF TO-READS! I have only recently started falling in love with reading again and only recently discovered things like booktubes, bookstagram and what not – which only means one thing: trouble (because I seriously have to restrain myself from buying books!!!). I’ve kept my to-read to a minimum with a book-buying ban (/sobs inside), so I only have 7 books that I own that I’m wanting to read and as for the ones I want to read but I haven’t bought – there’s too much, I can’t keep track of them! I’m trying to discipline myself and make sure I don’t buy too many books and I try to resist the temptation of looking at new books, haha!

By the way, I just added you as a friend on goodreads! 🙂

    1. ah! that makes me so happy that you like the post! but if you are just getting back into reading beware the social media peer pressure. i have always been a reader, but only last year made it one of my top hobbies again, and i have accumulated so many books in that time span its embarrassing. physical books that i own that are unread is definitely a smaller number than my goodreads to read list, its probably more around 50 (still a lot lol!)

      1. I couldn’t agree more about social media peer pressure! I love being introduced to so many amazing-sounding books, but it also terrifies me a little bit that when I see the books on stores/online, I have to actually talk myself out of it, haha! That is a lot! (but it kind of secretly is my dream to own more books!)
