Last month, I was asked to be a rep for a brand new subscription box company called The Book Boyfriend Box! You all should know by now how much I adore subscription boxes, so this was such an honor and I am so excited to be working with Bailey and Taylor on this project for the next couple of months!
The Book Boyfriend Box is a bi-monthly subscription box that features items based on some of our favorite book boyfriends! In addition to the items, there will be a newly released YA novel included in the box that goes with the theme (but not necessarily the boyfriend featured).
October’s theme was “To the Stars” and was a wonderfully well curated inaugural box! So, without further rambling, let’s get to the goods!
Bailey started this box off with a bang by picking not just a favorite book boyfriend, but THE favorite book boyfriend – Rhysand himself from A Court of Mist and Fury! Good lord, look at how beautiful all of the items in this box all look together, so color coordinated! *heart eyes*
Naturally you cannot have a Rhysand themed box without including this amazing and iconic quote from A Court of Mist and Fury! The sticker is designed by nerdytalks, and this exact sticker can be purchased here, only from Red Bubble.
“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”
“To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”
Can one ever have too many bookmarks? I think not. Which is why I was so excited to see an exclusive watercolor bookmark made by Book Boyfriend Box, which is going to be put to great use whenever I re-read ACOMAF.
I absolutely love this awesome Night Court inspired ring mad by Lilac Fox Designs! This interpretation of the Night Court has always been my favorite, and I love the minimalist design. It is definitely a fandom piece of jewelry, but it probably would pass as just a pretty ring for anyone else.
Behind the Pages is makes gorgeous bookmarks, but has recently released a book boyfriend and girlfriend lip balm line! Included in the box was the new Rhysand chap-stick / lip balm (I have been debating for like two days as to what I refer to it as). It smells wonderful, but I have an issue with it being black? I am really weird about dark colors near my mouth (yes, it’s unreasonable, and no, I don’t care) so I don’t know how often I am going to use it. But! The labeling is perfect, and it goes SOOOO well with everything else in the box.
Hands down, my favorite item in the box was this Rhys candle made by Seven Hearts Wax Co. Rachel from Seven Hearts hasn’t even released this scent to the general public yet (November 1st people!) and I am already antsy to get my hands on the full size version. It smells so good, like cologne and nature maybe? I honestly have no idea how to describe the scent, but it is one of my favorite candles I own now. AND Rachel uses wooden wicks in her candles, which make a little crackling sound as you burn them, it’s perfect.
Finally, the book that came in this box was Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge! This book is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, but with necromancers! Obviously the book doesn’t have anything to do with Rhysand, but the purpose of the box is to feature our favorite book boyfriends and introduce us to new ones! Plus, look at this color palette, my god everything looks so beautiful together!
Summary of Bright Smoke, Cold Fire:
When the mysterious fog of the Ruining crept over the world, the living died and the dead rose. Only the walled city of Viyara was left untouched.
The heirs of the city’s most powerful—and warring—families, Mahyanai Romeo and Juliet Catresou share a love deeper than duty, honor, even life itself. But the magic laid on Juliet at birth compels her to punish the enemies of her clan—and Romeo has just killed her cousin Tybalt. Which means he must die.
Paris Catresou has always wanted to serve his family by guarding the Juliet. But when his ward tries to escape her fate, magic goes terribly wrong—killing her and leaving Paris bound to Romeo. If he wants to discover the truth of what happened, Paris must delve deep into the city, ally with his worst enemy . . . and perhaps turn against his own clan.
Mahyanai Runajo only wants to protect her city—but she’s the only one who believes it’s in peril. In her desperate hunt for information, she accidentally pulls Juliet from the mouth of death—and finds herself bound to the bitter, angry girl. Runajo quickly discovers Juliet might be the one person who can help her recover the secret to saving Viyara.
Both pairs will find friendship where they least expect it. Both will find that Viyara holds more secrets and dangers than anyone ever expected. And outside the walls, death is waiting.
There is going to be a read-along for this book on Instagram hosted by Book Boyfriend Box in November for this box which is awesome! I love interacting with people who are reading the same book as me, so tune into their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages to follow along and interact!
The December Book Boyfriend Box is going to go on sale on November 1st, and the theme is going to be “Love Letters“! Given that the October box sold out in two days, I would advise not to wait around if you want in on this boyfriend amazingness!
