Another week, another Tuesday, another Top 5 Tuesday!
For those of you that are unaware, Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by The Broke & The Bookish, where book bloggers get to highlight their top 10 choices for the topic that the lovely people at B&B choose for the week. Yes, the meme is supposed to be Top 10, and yes, I only do 5. (#sorrynotsorry)
Anyways, today is all about the dreaded, the amazing, the NEVER ending: TBR list!
I am going to highlight the top 5 books that I have most recently added to my Goodreads “to read” shelf that I am most excited for. You see, I have a Goodreads problem, where I just go around hitting that green “want to read” button way too much. Interesting cover? Want to read. My friend recently finished? Want to read. Book 2 in a series that I haven’t started yet? Yep, want to read that too. It is a problem.
So, I narrowed down my Top 5 by books that I am aware of a premise, and legitimately excited to get to. Now, let’s get to it!
- Hunted by Megan Spooner
A beauty and the beast retelling?! Yes, please! It doesn’t come out until March 2017 though, how are we supposed to wait that long. Le sigh.
- The Valiant – Lesley Livingston
Female. Gladiators. Female. Freaking. Gladiators. How awesome does that sound?! A snippet from the plot summary reads: “Fallon must overcome vicious rivalries, chilling threats and the dangerous attention of Caesar himself to survive the deadly fights that take place both in and out of the arena—and claim her place in history among the Valiant.” February 2017. Killing me.
- Caravel – Stephanie Garber
There is a lot of hype on bookstagram about this book already, and so far the reviews are fantastic! Plus, the cover is so mesmerizing; I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
- The Female of the Species – Mindy McGinnis
I am not usually a huge fan of YA contemporary novels, but this one has been described as complicated, unpleasant, dark, and original. From all the review I have read, there is an incredible meaning to this book that you take away from reading it, and I would like to get in on this. Good news: it has already been published so I don’t need to wait for its release. Bad news: I am not buying books until after the new year. GRRR.
- The Cruelest Month – Louise Penny
Not a book that I have included for popularity purposes, but I have recently gotten into the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache novels by Louise Penny, and they are perfect cozy mysteries, I love them so much. Penny builds a definite suspense with her words and stories, but these books are far from being classified as thrillers. Just great detective stories with absolutely wonderful characters.
And that is my most anticipated of the recently added books to my TBR! I noticed after I put this list together that all of the authors are female, which makes me grin from ear to ear like a maniac. Hell yes, female writing power.
So, what are some of the books at the top of your TBR pile? Let me know in the comments below!
