I know being an active member of the bookstagram community has basically turned me into a book buying monster. Of course I judge books by their cover, how else am I going to pick it up out of the thousands of others at Barnes & Noble!?
My main one: preordering books, or making a big deal to rush out on release day to purchase a book, only to return home and not read it.
So, with that being said, I thought it would be fun (and embarrassing) to show off all the books I just HAD TO BUY, no ifs, ands, or buts, yet I still haven’t read them.
The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. This is such a gorgeous book, and from the book reviewers I align with, I have heard nothing but amazing things. PLUS, Sarah J. Maas has a blurb on the cover praising its gorgeousness. So, why I haven’t I picked it up yet?!
Roseblood by AG Howard. I think I bought this purely because I was upset that I had unsubscribed from OwlCrate the same month they sent out a book that I was actually interested in reading. So, I rushed out, ogled the book in Barnes, brought the book home, pet the book, loved the pretty red colored words, and then stuck it on my shelf not to be pulled down again.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I am actually thinking about disabling my comment section now that I have admitted to not reading this masterpiece. I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up yet, I think mostly because I am scared? I have heard several people say they cried, and I don’t really want to lose any of these characters so I guess I will just pretend they all have a happily ever after, the end.
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. Apparently I have issues with continuing series. I loved Ember when I read it, so much so that I bought Torch the day it was released. But the pull to the story has disappeared with all the time that has passed, and with Ember #3 not coming out until 2018, I don’t think I am in a huge rush to read it.
Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. This is a book I absolutely NEEDED. I hunted it down in Barnes, purely for that little origami fox on the cover. To be honest I don’t even know what it is about, I just told myself it would be my next middle grade read, whenever that happened. It hasn’t yet. 😦
The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee. This is kind of a bonus book on this list because even though I had to have this beauty when I first picked it up, I don’t think I have any intentions of ever getting to it. When I read the synopsis, the story isn’t really anything that I would like, it’s just such a gorgeous and unique book, I knew it had to come home with me.
Oh, I am sure there are more books hidden in my shelves that I absolutely HAD to buy but remain unread. These are just the 6 ones that jump out at me as being embarrassing and unreasonable. So, tell me I am not alone. What books did you bring home the day the came out, only to not read immediately? Let me know in the comments!
