Happy Sunday book friends! I have been mildly absent from my blog which can be attributed to two things mainly. One, I had an amazing reading month. I will get into that later this week, but I was PLOWING through books, and every spare second of my time was spent reading. Also, because my dang boyfriend has totally been hogging the computer with his games. *le sigh* boyfriends amirite?
So to fill in some of my absence, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and is a chance to share some weekly news. This is where I will recap the past week or so, showcase some books and other things I have received, and maybe talk about what is coming up for the week on my blog. (Haven’t decided on this portion yet so let’s see where this post takes us!)
I am super excited to share with you a project that has been in the works since September of last year! My sister and I have opened up a bookish candle company!
I know, I know, there are so many out there… But we tried to make ours as unique as possible and I am super excited with the result! The company is called wickworms, and you can check out our Etsy page HERE .
After throwing around a ton of different ideas, we decided to make ‘chunk candles’ so each candle has colored wax chunks look just so bad ass! As hard as it is to burn bookish candles, (I know I am guilty of this) our candles are meant to be burned. With the chunks and overpour being different scents, burning our candles is essential to combine the scents and to create a perfect combination!
I have basically given up on Lincoln in the Bardo. It lives on my nightstand, and randomly I pick it up to read a few pages, but I am mostly frustrated with it. It’s not the story, because I think the story would be amazing. But, the format is wholly bizarre, and most of the time I am not sure what is happening or who is speaking, and obviously that is very frustrating for a reader.
I was listening to Orphan X since Gregg Hurwitz is going to be at BookCon this year, but I had to put that on hold when the newest Joe Ledger book, Dogs of War, was released this week. I am a huge fan of this series, and an even bigger fan of the audio book narrator, and I don’t think it will take me that long to finish this 17 hour behemoth.
Lastly, Nicholas surprised me with Redwall in the mail a week ago since I have been talking about it non-stop for a month. These are the books that really got me into reading when I was a kid, and I have been so full of nostalgia revisiting this world.
After turning this idea around in my head for MONTHS, I finally decided to start a blog meme of my own! I haven’t been promoting it really, but I think it’s so much fun and would love for anyone and anyone to participate.
It’s called: “It’s All in the De-tales!” and I can best describe it as a book review of everything but the content of a book. That means the cover, the spine, the font, chapter headers and title pages, the back of the book and the end pages. There are so many unique characteristics that make books beautiful, and I thought it would be fun to show them off. I have done two so far, you can check out the one for Ever the Hunted or for Strange the Dreamer to see how it works!
I have been using an app to plan out my bookstagram pictures, and MY GAWD. I love it. Conveniently, the app is called Plann, and I highly recommend it if you have ever accidentally posted two similar pictures next to, or on top of each other!
I know the only thing that is going to get me through the week and through all of the feels that A Court of Wings and Ruin is going to flood me with, is the fact that after two and a half LONG years of waiting, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is finally releasing!!!
I cannot explain how excited I am for this movie. I watch the first one once a month or every other month, and I listen to Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (and now Vol. 2!!!) every day.
And, if that isn’t enough, in two weeks King Arthur comes out and that movie looks amazing!
I know this was a weird way to end a book blog post, but seeing Star Lord and Baby Groot again is going to make my 2017. I. CAN’T. WAIT.
Well, until next time book nerds, have a good week and I wish you all the luck in surviving ACOWAR.
