It has been so long book friends!
This year has passed by in a blur, it is amazing how quickly time flies when you are busy every hour of the day. But, with that said, I have wrapped up my studying for the GRE, I have submitted my application for graduate school, I have cried all the tears, and now there is nothing to do but wait for a decision.
So, to distract myself from the angst of waiting, I thought I would jump right back into book blogging and share with you all my top 5 reads from 2018 (thus far)! I am reading much slower this year than previous years, but despite everything being only 3 books behind on my Goodreads challenge; I’ll call that a win!
Without further rambling, here is my list of my top five books so far this year! I expect that it will change by the end of December though, there are still a few books that I am very, VERY much looking forward to!

Well, it has been over two months since I have last published on my blog! That makes me really sad; I love this little extension of myself. But unfortunately, life is forseeably busy for the next two months, and I wanted to take some time for a little personal post, and explain my absence (not that many will be too particularly interested, but still let me justify my lack of online presence!)

While it seems everyone else is super organized and has already posted their favorite reads of the year, I have decided to finally embrace the ‘perpetual state of behindness’ that I seem to live in. So, here I am, a week or two later, finally compiling my list of the 7 books I read in 2017 that gave me all the feels.
Seven you ask? That is a weird number to choose.
Well, you see, five was too few, I couldn’t narrow it down that far. But ten was too many, I couldn’t categorize 10% of the books I read as favorites. So, I settled for the in between.
And conveniently, I can group all seven of these reads in to two distinct categories. Ready? Ready.

I usually never stick a book back on my shelf without finishing it, even if I am not the biggest fan of the story. What if the book takes a fantastic and unexpected turn at the end and I totally missed out on it by putting it away too early? It wasn’t until mid-2017 that I finally came to the realization that there are way too many books in the world to finish the ones that I am not jiving with, and so, I finally made a DNF shelf for my Goodreads.
Since the end of the year is fast approaching (and to be honest, I am petering out on reading in general), I thought it would be an appropriate time to go through the few books that I just couldn’t quite finish.

If you’re like me, you started holiday shopping back in September. But, if you are a normal, sane, and reasonable human being than it is about that time to start thinking about your holiday gifts.
I admit, I have almost zero chill when it comes to Christmas (which is what my family celebrates despite zero religious affiliation). Then combine that with how large my family is, and I get a recipe of “plan early or go broke”. I try to space everything out so that when the boyfriend and I actually head home for Christmas, we have some money to go get drinks with friends too.
Anyways, as time slips away I have found that it becomes harder and harder for me to think of gift ideas for all sorts of people in my life. So, I have decided to help you all out a little bit this year! Read on for DeerTales Gift Guide!*
*Note! This is not bookish themed, it is a general gift guide with tons of ideas for all the different people in your life.

Thought we should take another trip down the TBR hole today!
For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, this is a blog meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that is basically this a post dedicated to cleaning out your Goodreads TBR. So, you get to sort through books that you have just haphazardly thrown onto you virtual you know you will never read and figuring out which ones you will actually read!
So, it works like this:
- Head on over to your Goodreads to-read shelf
- Sort the books by ascending date added
- Take a closer look at the first 5 -10 books (How adventurous are ya feeling today?)
- Read the synopses of the books (Oh I will be taking a good look at the covers too!)
- Decide: should I keep it or should it go?
I did a mini purge almost two weeks ago and guys. It is still out of control:
Why is it so much fun to add books on Goodreads!?

I was definitely all aboard the bookish candle hype train when the concept really took off. A candle company would come out with a new variation of my favorite characters, or places from books, or just general bookish themed, and I snatched them up without a second thought.
Eventually my sister and I started our own bookish themed candle company called wickworms, and while it has been so much fun designing candles, it has really fueled the obsession. But owning a business is hard, and while both of us have learned quite a few lessons on this journey, I have taken away two main points:
- I have picky fragrance tastes. For example, any scent containing jasmine is a hard pass for me, same with gardenia or spearmint. Sweet candles are also a miss for me, except very rarely a candle containing caramel scents will pique my interest.
- If I love a fandom hard enough, I find it necessary to adorn my shelves with every candle in existence from that fandom.
So, with that being said, I have been burning a lot of candles lately (because I finally convinced myself that I cannot buy more if I don’t get rid of some) and I thought it would be fun to share with you my favorite bookish candles! When I originally put together this list, I found that I had favorites from tons of different shops, which was completely unintentional but perfect for spreading the love; enjoy!
