I was definitely all aboard the bookish candle hype train when the concept really took off. A candle company would come out with a new variation of my favorite characters, or places from books, or just general bookish themed, and I snatched them up without a second thought.
Eventually my sister and I started our own bookish themed candle company called wickworms, and while it has been so much fun designing candles, it has really fueled the obsession. But owning a business is hard, and while both of us have learned quite a few lessons on this journey, I have taken away two main points:
- I have picky fragrance tastes. For example, any scent containing jasmine is a hard pass for me, same with gardenia or spearmint. Sweet candles are also a miss for me, except very rarely a candle containing caramel scents will pique my interest.
- If I love a fandom hard enough, I find it necessary to adorn my shelves with every candle in existence from that fandom.
So, with that being said, I have been burning a lot of candles lately (because I finally convinced myself that I cannot buy more if I don’t get rid of some) and I thought it would be fun to share with you my favorite bookish candles! When I originally put together this list, I found that I had favorites from tons of different shops, which was completely unintentional but perfect for spreading the love; enjoy!

THIS IS SO LATE AND IT’S EMBARRASSING! But, I still wanted to post about the books that I read and acquired in March, so I just went for it… 14 days late. But come on, who doesn’t love looking at a good stack of books no matter what time of the month it is?

I am totally that person who reads a super hyped book and then rates it 2 stars. It happened with A Court of Thorns and Roses (bleh), it happened with Empress of A Thousand Skies (don’t even get me started), and The Grisha Trilogy (didn’t even finish that). So, I was 100% prepared to not like Caraval after all the hype surrounding the book basically built it up to be the best thing since sliced bread.
And, I am happy to report that it passed my hype test!
*Cue confetti and rave horns*

Every month I seek out unboxing pictures for FairyLoot, even if I have managed to snag a box that month or not. I don’t know why it took me so long to finally commit to a subscription, I was hesitant that there would be a few months in a row that the value wouldn’t be there to justify the international shipping I suppose. However, after seeing 7 months of unboxings, and personally receiving 4 of those boxes, I finally committed to a subscription to FairyLoot!
When I first started unboxing FairyLoot on my blog, I wanted to break down the price of each item in the box, so it would help anyone else who was on the fence about the international shipping into convincing them to subscribe to this book box company, and I have decided to go back to that! It does take a little bit of extra time and research, but I think its worth it to potentially save people some money, or help them commit to finally taking the plunge into FairyLoot!
So without further ado, the January FairyLoot box: Mischief and Magic!
