There is so much to consider when picking up a book if you are judging it how it looks: the cover yes, but also the spine details, the back cover, the pages (are they deckled?! are they sprayed?!), the title pages, the chapter headers, the naked spine, the naked hardcover, and I could go on and on and on…
Based on all of these factors, I thought it would be fun to start a blog meme, which I am so fondly calling, “It’s All in the De-Tales”. This is not necessarily a book ‘review’, although you could say its a review based on physical properties and has nothing to do with what is on the inside!
So for this third edition of “It’s All in the De-Tales” I thought it would be fun to do one of my favorite incomplete series, one which I picked up several years ago specifically because I loved how the book looked without the dust jacket on.
I present to you: The Bone Season books in all their glory!

As a Bone Season advocate, I was gifted – nay, I was blessed – with an ARC of The Song Rising. And guys, I just need to talk about all of the FEELS. It is too early to post a coherent review, so, give me another month to let all of that action soak in. But I thought it would be a fun idea to give you a summary of my feels, because Samantha Shannon is an evil genius. Evil. Genius.

The Bone Season #2
If you thought The Bone Season was a crazy read: well, buckle in my friends, because The Mime Order is absolute insanity. I tried, I tried so hard to not read this book in one sitting, and I succeeded somewhat! I read it in three sittings. Go me!
Reading this series though, is borderline torture. I just want to get to the end so badly, yet there are 5….FIVE books left to be published (including The Song Rising which is coming out in March 2017 THANK THE LORD). I feel so invested in this story and the characters already, and I can see this series being my next big obsession for the next decade.
What I love, and I find to be one of the more unique aspects of the Bone Season books, is that each new book picks up mere seconds after the last one ended. There is no ‘six months later’ recap, there is only non-stop action.

The Bone Season #1
I don’t often give myself the luxury of re-reading a book, I mean, there are SO MANY UNREAD BOOKS THAT I OWN. However, as a Bone Season Advocate, I wanted to re-read the first two books in The Bone Season series in preparation of the third book being released in March 2017.
And, while I enjoyed The Bone Season last April when I read it for the first time, reading it again this month I can walk away and say I loved this book! The depth of this story is downright amazing, and while there are some parts that I would classify “information overload”, the world/underworld of Scion London is fascinating and addicting.
