The Sunday Post – August 20, 2017

I have been gone for a while, I realize this.  I don’t really know how it happened, life just gets away from you sometimes, you know?

Anyways, I thought I would kind of do a ‘catch up’ post: tell you all a little bit about what I am currently reading (spoiler alert; a lot), as well as just some random happenings in my life that have kept me away from my blog for longer than I intended.

Alrighty, let’s get to it!

august 20 currently reading

I am a polygamist reader.  I don’t think ever in my life I have had 100% of my time and energy focused on one book.  At the moment, I am doing some serious multitasking when it comes to my currently reading.  You should see my nightstand!

So, candidly, here is a quick rundown of my current reads:

  1. The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley – I want to finish because I was hooked up with an awesome promo pack for this book from Bloomsbury but I hate the font and the story is a bit slow.
  2. Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson – sneaking pages in at work when I am not that busy, but annoyed that I want to finish in the first place because I just learned that the author is problematic.
  3. The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan – I am neck-deep in Percy Jackson stories and I never want them to end.
  4. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco – Wondering why there is so much hype for this book when I have been nothing but mildly bored so far…
  5. SpecOps by Craig Alanson (audio) – I don’t think I will ever finish this monster of an audio book.

It has been a couple of months since I have read a book that knocked my pants off, and unfortunately I don’t think I any of these current reads will change that situation.  Which sucks.  I need a book that will reignite a passion to read at every moment of every day.

The Sunday Post – July 9th, 2017

Happy Sunday book friends!  I have been mildly absent from my blog (again) and this time I really don’t have a valid excuse other than blogging is so dang HARD!

So to fill in some of my absence, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and is a chance to share some weekly news.  This is where I will recap the past week or so, showcase some books and other things I have received, and maybe talk about what is coming up for the week on my blog.  (Haven’t decided on this portion yet so let’s see where this post takes us!)

random-happenings

sister sock sundayMy book loving sister came to town to visit me for the Fourth of July weekend, so naturally we took an unnecessary trip to Barnes & Noble.  It wasn’t enough to just walk around and be content among all the pretty books, we needed to complete the experience by purchasing some too.  (Hey, in my defense, its been a while since I have book shopped with my sissy, so it was much-needed.)

Instead of picking out a bunch of different books, we each got a copy of two books that we are going to try to buddy read together!  I really like this idea of having a sisterly type book club thing, it gives us more to talk about then just candles and Instagram (and trust me, we talk multiple times day so we definitely need more topics of conversation.)

So anyways, we grabbed WANT and Stalking Jack the Ripper, both which I have heard fantastic things about!  I am excited to work these in to our TBR sooner rather than later, and if anyone wants to join our sister themed book club, let us know!

currently-reading

Per usual, my currently reading is a mess.  I just finished This is Really Happening, a book sent to me by Penguin Teen that I enjoyed a lot (review coming soon!) and I started Library of Fates last night while I was in the tub.

And then on top of that, I am buddy reading Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, with my BFF Isabel, but I haven’t gotten to the point in the book where I can’t stop reading you know?  Like when I pick it up, I enjoy it, but once I set it back down I let too much time pass before reading again.

Oh well.

Lastly, I am listening to an alien / space opera / sci-fi / comedy called Spec-Ops, that is huge, but is a fun listen.  I really like the narrator, and the characters are so ridiculous that at times I am reminded a lot of Hitchhiker’s Guide.  But damn, the book is so long it will take me a whole month to listen to it.

TBS detales -06I have been kind of absent on blogging too (BLOGGING IS SO HARD OMG) but I did whip up another “It’s All in the De-tales” post that may be my favorite one so far!  Click HERE to ogle The Bone Season series in all its naked glory.

You all should know by now too that I LOVEEEE talking about sci-fi, so I recently made my Top 5 Tuesday prompt to be: “5 Sci-Fi Books That I Have Recently Added to My TBR” and oh boy, there are some good ones on the list.  Check it out right HERE!

And, finally, my boyfriend and I are moving relatively soon, so I put together a post about some books that I have for sale that you can check out HERE !

I am really working on not letting the number of likes that I receive on my pictures bother me.  Post what you want to post!  Post what makes you happy!

to-get-you-through-the-week

So, not much is happening lately.  There aren’t any awesome movies I am stoked for, July is kind of a boring book month, and I have basically done all my travelling for the year already.

But, and I know this sounds slightly vain, but whenever I am feeling down, I have been going back to look at this picture that I took when Nick and I went to Harry Potter World with my family a couple of weeks ago.

hp in diagon alley

Isnt it amazing?!  First of all, the iPhone 7 Plus camera is phenomenal.  Secondly, I am in love with Diagon Alley, and I love the Diagon Alley on the book cover is almost a perfect match to the one I am standing in.  Harry Potter World is always filled with tears for me, and this instance was no exception.

And, that’s all I got for you today!  I hope your Sunday is filled with happy reading and relaxing times!

The Sunday Post – and what the heck have I been doing?!

Happy Sunday book friends!  I have been mildly absent from my blog which can be attributed to two things mainly.  One, I had an amazing reading month.  I will get into that later this week, but I was PLOWING through books, and every spare second of my time was spent reading.  Also, because my dang boyfriend has totally been hogging the computer with his games.  *le sigh* boyfriends amirite?

So to fill in some of my absence, I thought it would be a good idea to revisit The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and is a chance to share some weekly news.  This is where I will recap the past week or so, showcase some books and other things I have received, and maybe talk about what is coming up for the week on my blog.  (Haven’t decided on this portion yet so let’s see where this post takes us!)

The Sunday Post

I have been searching the book blog-o-sphere for new memes and prompts that I can incorporate into a weekly lineup to just make blogging at little more interesting.  And I have learned that if you ask The Google Machine anything, anything at all, you will receive.

0abf9b9e-b7ac-4d59-b451-7eb7c64ea1b9_zps47hi5hueSo, when I asked for “book blogging memes for Sundays” I was handsomely rewarded with discovering The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is such a wonderful meme because I have been searching fora way / excuse to be more personal in my blogging journey, to be more interactive with the people that read my words and opinions, and in turn discover more amazing people in the book universe.

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and it is a chance to share: news.  This is a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things you may have received, and maybe talk about what is coming up for the week on your blog.  (To be honest, I don’t even know what I have planned for the coming week so sharing that info with you seems a little…premature.)

Anyways, enough jibber jabber and let’s get to it!
